The Best Dresses Ever – Meg’s S/S 07 Pink Party Dress
I bought this dress at Meg at 849 Queen St. W. Meg is by Meghan Kinne, a Calgary native.
This is one of my all time favourite dresses that I sadly have few appropriate pictures of me wearing. (The picture I posted features me leaning disinterestedly on a car my boyfriend thought matched the car. The reason why the picture is in sepia is because the brown of the car clashed with the pink on my dress.)
Maybe it’s the cleavage-ness or the fact that I’m not usually done up enough or posing fittingly for the dress mixed with the fact that Toronto has few events with the right elements to support such an optimistic dress – at least to my knowledge. Fashion week crowds are seas of black. I wore this dress out only twice – once to the burlesque show that was running in Toronto (The show was horribly dull and I was overdressed) and the second time as I ran to a shoot. Otherwise I wear it around the house to brighten up my mood.
I love this dress though. When my friends see that dress in a picture or in my closet, they always tell me that “That dress is so you!!” and it is. The shopgirl gave me a discount on the dress because she thought I looked so cute in it. I love bright colours, I love bows and I love pouffy bottoms. Most of all, I love to stand out in a crowd in a dress that is a clever combination of the forementioned items. The quality of the dress is great however it seems that the material is not up for reworking. My torso is short so I need to get the straps shorten and the tailor made a horrible mess of it.
It’s one of those dresses that make you happy.
