LGFW f/w 09: Tuesday
For whatever reason, I feel more obligated to write more timely posts about lgfw this season. I think it is the peer and boyfriend (he whined when I didn’t write yesterday) pressure. I now have much more appreciation for the likes of Nathalie Atkinson
Tuesday
Since I wasn’t invited to any of the media events on Monday, my fashion week started today. I continue to have a weird web-media status. LGFW was apparently cracking down (again?) on the bloggers after some fiasco about a digital camera going missing in the media room and I get the feeling that I barely got in this season. I didn’t get a media gift bag like I did last season. I’m not sure if I am upset. I have mixed feelings about the bag and I gave again practically everything in it because it was hogging up space.
I still have reservations about introducing myself as a blogger. It isn’t really a job to me, at least the way I apply myself to it – I may as well as introduced myself as a professional flower-smeller or bottle-rocket scientist. It was sort of unnerving to hear that people read my blog. I still think of it as a personal blog in many ways and it was unreal to hear Eye Weekly writer Rea McNamara telling me quite diplomatically what she thought of my posts. She also taught me how to use Twitter. Danielle at Final Fashion described me as an outsider and a patron which I hope is a compliment. I don’t know. I don’t know what space I can claim in the fashion world.
I was happy to see the Fashion Blogger Army. I sat with Miss Sly during Joeffer on Tuesday and she sweetly offered to let me be her plus one for Wednesday’s Pink Tartan and Joe Fresh Show. I also saw Danielle , Anita from I want I got, and Gail from The Style Box on Tuesday. Unfortunately, I was rushing home to avoid the St. Patty’s Day collisions so I didn’t really get to talk to any of them.
I saw only Joeffer Caoc and Lundstrom on Tuesday. I was planning to scan in the written form of my notes on the designer-supplied line sheets but my scanner is in the middle of not behaving so I’m going to type them instead:
The first show of the night was Joeffer Caoc, which I was really looking forward to since I missed it last season. Here are my notes on the line sheet:
{
-space age grannies
-visible pain on models because of heels
-superhero or villan?
-Don’t I already own variations of this stuff? Am I the knockoff or is Joeffer?
-One model’s posture was so bad that she looked like she had MS.
-the “15. Red silk Jersey dress” is a direct Denis Gagnon rip off
- All the liquid stretch material looks like American Apparel rejects
-I hate that silhoute
-Closing bodysuit = Silk Spectre II?
-”Blue liquid stretch sheer back dress” – Cheap cheap cheap; side boob galore.
}
The Joeffer show seemed to have polarized the fashion commentators. People either loved it or they hated it. I personnally thought the show was horrible and unwearable and that the styling was better than the clothes.
Next I saw Lundstrom, which I was very happy to get invited to.
My notes:
{
-in the gift bag: an invitation to an elder-tour thing to France and Italy that Linda Lundstrom will be hosting – are you kidding me?
-Wow all the coats are gorgeous!
-these clothes are already the uniform of the elusive-unless-you-are-in-Whole-Foods Oakville housewife
- Fur on the runway = faux or real?
-Flouncy hair for the win!
-very work friendly
-grays, yellows, purples, blues
-Red fur with purple dress!
-peasant dresses…. again
-deep pockets
-why micromesh again?
-I need that trench
-final model: whoa, underaged side boob!!!
}
I personally liked Lundstrom solely for the reason of me needing more delicious-looking work clothes. Currently, I have Hilary Clinton’s wardrobe.
I got a 25% off gift card in my gift bag and I will probably go use it. I’ll tell you about it later.
Lastly, I saw Jessica Biffi’s PRC dress up close and it looks much better the way she created. The fabric was much heavier and looked like it was of higher quality. I did see one person wearing the dress during the shows. Sadly, the dress looked horrible and dated on her. I don’t think it works on anybody.
How was your LGFW Tuesday?
You seriously liked Jessica Biffi’s dress? I saw it at Winners the day after the episode aired and thought it looked better on TV….I didn’t like the feel of the material, but that’s just MHO.
I liked the way it looked on the model on TV, but you are right it translate poorly on a non-model person. I wrote a post on trying it on about a week back. It looked horrible on me.
