Project Runway Canada Season 2: Final Episode

“Sunny the Great!” – Iman

Sunny Fong won Project Runway Canada.

It was well deserved and obvious to anybody that watched an episode of the show. His collection was incredibly well-thought out and executed with just the perfect balance of textures, structures and draping to make even a fashion-novice like me realize that I am looking at something special. Every last piece was a jaw-dropper and words don’t do the collection justice. I hope Global posts pics soon.

I thought it was especially sweet that Sunny and his mom bonded over creating the final collection together. She looked ecstatic when he won! I’m a sucker for Asian-parents-finally-showing-emotions story arc (see the Timmies Asian grandpa commercial).

CONGRATULATIONS SUNNY!

The only negative comment I have for Sunny is that his price points are through the roof. I’m really into the Vawk brand and would pay more than most for a special Canadian piece and even I would not pay $2000 for that coat as beautiful as it is, just on principle. The absolute most I would pay on a full length coat is $1000 plus tax. Honestly, the only reason I could imagine buying Sunny’s clothes is if it lasted me 10-30 years like an Hermes coat and since Sunny is a new designer, he would more or less need to do public material stress tests to convince that the quality is the same. I really hope that some of his pieces are more, ahem, affordable since my retail-purchase-guilt-point has moved from $2000 last year to $500 this year.

I love Sunny but I’ll wait for the Vawk sample sale.  Here’s to hoping Sunny will have a lot of rich patrons!

Best of Luck to Jessica and Jason in the future.

You can’t just say “Spoilers Ahead” and then print the spoiler just a few lines down! Some of us can take in more than one line of text at a time. Thanks a lot!
